Toshiba recently confirmed that they will launch it's first HD-DVD (HD-E1) player in European countries on the 15th November. The player will cost €599 (roughly £400), and this release comes days before Sony's rival format 'Blu-ray' launches with the PlayStation 3 on the 17th of November.
The company also announced that a second HD-DVD player will launch later in the year around christmas.
Microsoft who is also supporting the HD-DVD format will release a player to accompany their Xbox 360 videogame console, to combat the PS3's next gen movie capabilities.
HD-DVD and Blu-ray players are already available in the US and Japan, and the battle for the best format is soon to begin in Europe. |
